A simple way to budget your monthly food shop

What if your food money actually lasted the whole month? MyFoodBudget helps you stretch your grocery money — with one Tesco card that we remotely top up twice a month.

When the shop doesn’t match payday

Week one’s shop is fine… but by week three, things get tight. Food costs don’t line up with paydays — and it’s stressful.

MyFoodBudget fixes the timing. It isn’t credit or a loan — it’s your money, just managed so it lasts.

Start your plan

A simpler way to manage your food shop

You decide your monthly amount — we handle the rest.

1) Choose your plan

Pick an amount that fits: most people choose £160–£400 a month. We’ll post your Tesco gift card once you’re set up.

2) We top it up twice a month

On the 1st and 16th (or next working day) we add money to your card automatically. No new cards. No hassle.

3) Shop in store as normal

Use your Tesco card at the checkout for food and essentials. You’ll always know what’s left for the month.

Get started — no credit checks, no fees

Why locals are joining

We started MyFoodBudget here in Aberdeenshire to make food budgeting calmer and more predictable.

Local & non-profit. Run by Secure Support (Fortis Advisory CIC), volunteer-led in Aberdeenshire.
No credit. No interest. It’s your money — we just manage the timing.
We reinvest savings. Any small retailer discount (around 4%) goes back into local help.
Flexible. Change or cancel your plan any time.

“This made budgeting so much calmer. The Tesco card idea really works.”

“It’s my own money, just organised better. I stopped running out by week three.”

Common questions

Is this credit or a loan?
No. It’s your own grocery money. We just manage when it’s added to your Tesco card so it lasts across the month.
Do you charge fees?
Standing orders are free. If you choose to pay by card, a small payment processor fee applies.
Can I cancel or change my plan?
Yes — you’re in control. Change your amount or cancel any time. For annual prepay, unused value is refunded as Tesco eGift.
What if my card is lost or damaged?
Treat it like cash and tell us as soon as possible. Replacement and balance transfer depend on the card issuer and may not be guaranteed — we’ll help where we can.
Who runs MyFoodBudget?
